I agree that imagery is not always necessary is design as we learn in typography class designing with only text. But its not a bad thing either, using it in consideration with a project can help deepen the meaning if its worked in well. Choosing the correct text is always hard for me to do. So the process that he describes will be pretty helpful to me in the future.

Do you use a similar process or can you identify with Bowman’s to a degree? My concern is that you define and eventually “own” a process that works for you, that includes good planning and creative leaps, so that you can maximize your talents. If you don’t have a good planning process, use this class to work on that aspect of creating sites!
I totally agree about the typography. I think that a successful, non-image dependant design reflects a certain level of sophistication for a designer.
When it comes to web typography….i always get frustrated at the lack of options because of browser restrictions. Anyone know a good site that lets you see all the available typography out there that is safe on all browsers? If so, let me know. I remember seeing one a while back…but that WAS a while back.
I design with imagery in mind, I think I lack when it comes to typography!
Yes, while imagery is important, typography can be the center to your overall design. Depending on the client and the business related subject, imagery or typography can be your focus of design.
