Wow, that dayah.com website is crazy javascript. I really liked how interactive it was, and the flashy colors. It did keep my attention for a while, as it also had horrible design. I think you could do some really cool ajax stuff with it, if u wanted.

Wow, that guy in the video MUST be a mad scientist...hehe. I really like the first website's way of handling the information. Showing how elements breakdown into everyday life was cool. But it was really ugly and dated. I also liked the 2nd website. I think that you could do something really cool with the rollover feature that they used, but not just to display the same information. Perhaps when you roll over an element it will show you what its common uses are, like from the first site. I agree that video could really help students on this type of website.

I think screen casting is probably the best way to teach code. But screen casting is not enough, and audio is a must if you want to connect with users. I like when someone else has had the same problem with code as I have, and it helps with your confidence as well as learning.

Yea screen casting I think is an excellent way to show people exactly what you are doing rather than just trying to type it out and explain it in words. It also gives you the opportunity to voice over and talk to the user and explain exactly why you are doing what you are doing. It enables you to combine multiple elements of e-learning and apply them to the same material for the user to be able to learn in a variety of ways.

I liked the sites you put up, there is a lot more information on them than I thought. I liked the canvas site you put up. But I think the strongest site is the one witht he video, because it incorporates more than way of social learning, and thats what this course is all about. So in terms of strenths for what we are researching and building, thats why I say that is the strongest.

Thanks for putting up these sites! I learned something new today just by checking out these sites. I loved the first one and seeing the code really helps. Even though the site was pretty straight forward the examples were fun and interesting. It seems like you really enjoy sites that let you manipulate the example. How do you think you're going to do that with the periodic table? It could be fun to have people be able to calculate the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons and see what element they create.

I got lost on several of the sites, I think I just didn't take the time to really look at them when I saw all of the code. I know that's not the best attitude to have in our field, but there it is. I think that if you are going to have a lot of scripting in your site you should think of ways to break it up or simplify it. (but I guess that depends on what your target market is.)

The images in the paint tutorial were cool. I think you have to make sure you explain how every line of the code works.

The video was cool and definitely a great way to help get the information across. If you have the time, you might think about incorporating something like that into your site.

Those are pretty cool websites. I particularly liked the last site with the video, I really think that is a good way to get the point across. The other sites seem a bit code intensive, and if you are going to go that route, I would break it up in pieces and show examples after each step is done.

Some interesting sites and I like your finding aspects of features that would work for you. I wanted to say also that you can put the idea of e-commerce into the site with forms and screens that simply link and demonstrate the design of the "buy" pages and perhaps add the e-commerce backend stuff when you get to those classes.

Also, the final project in this class is 15 pages now, although when you turn it in for portfolio it needs to be 20 minimum.

Ok, so I think the first link is crap, the Ashley Furniture one is "Ok" if they got rid of that opaque "A" out from under the text. The last 2 are clean, my favorite though is "Office Furniture". Just the right amount of content, and a good grid make this site a success in my eyes. Also, the thumbnails make me want to explore and possibly buy stuff. I am in the need for a new office chair, so i have been looking at Office Supply store websites too! This might be a tough project Michael, but you can do it man.
